A commemoration honouring the memory of Tamil political prisoners who were killed in prisonswas held on July 25 at the Thanthai Chelva Memorial Hall in Jaffna.
The event, titled “Public Day of Remembrance – July 25,” was organised by the Voice of the Voiceless organization under the coordination of Mr. Gomagan.
The programme reflected on the painful memories of Black July, one of the darkest chapters in Tamil history. Held under the theme “The Struggle of Memory Against Oblivion”, the event paid tribute to the slain Tamil political prisoners through commemorative speeches, remembrance activities and an open discussion.
Political leaders, religious leaders, representatives of civil society organisations, parents of the imprisoned victims, and members of the public attended the event and gathered to honour the memory of those who lost their lives.
