The protest “Cry for Justice 02”, organised by the Thayaga Seyalani, calling for international justice over the Chemmani–Siththupaththi mass grave and the genocide of Tamils, was held in the Chemmani area of Jaffna from 14 to 17 August.

On the final day, a street drama titled “Our Beloved Ones at Chemmani” was staged in front of the Chemmani site by students of Jeyam drama College Puthukkudiyiruppu.

This was followed by a protest march from the Jaffna Public Library to the office of the United Nations representative located along Temple Road in Jaffna.

A memorandum calling for international investigations into the genocide against Tamils, enforced disappearances and human rights violations was handed over to representatives of the United Nations.

Religious leaders, political representatives, civil society activists, human rights defenders, human rights activists from the South, university students, people from all eight districts of the Northern and Eastern Provinces, and family members of the forcibly disappeared participated in the event.
