The main diocesan inauguration took place at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Jaffna, where a special Holy Mass and opening ceremony were led by the Bishop of Jaffna, Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam.
The programme was organized by the Cathedral Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jero Selvanayagam. Several members of the clergy joined the Bishop in the liturgy, including Diocesan Vicar General Rev. Fr. Jeberatnam, Procurator General Rev. Fr. Nesanayagam, Director of the Marainathi Catholic Media Centre Rev. Fr. Anton Stephen, and St. Joseph Catholic Press Manager Rev. Fr. Ainsley Roshan.
Catholic media personnel from across the diocese also participated, representing media organizations such as Marainathi Catholic Media Centre, St. Joseph Catholic Press, Bishop Soundaram Media, Irai Oli, Holy Mary, Tamil Best, and Kadavulin Manitham.
The Year of Social Communication will be observed under the theme “Let us build a Year of Peace through Social Communication.” A series of awareness programmes, workshops, and media initiatives are planned throughout the year to promote responsible and peace-building communication.
