The “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” initiative, organized in response to the Holy Father’s universal call to pray for world peace and for children and families living in war-affected regions, was held in the Jaffna Deanery on 24 October 2026.
The event was organized under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Jero Selvanayagam, Dean of Jaffna, at the premises of Our Lady of Refuge Church, Jaffna.
During the programme, the Mysteries of the Rosary were presented through visual displays, and children representing the parishes of the deanery led the Rosary prayer, offering their prayers for peace throughout the world, particularly for children and families affected by war.
A Rosary procession was also held within the church premises as part of the event.
Hundreds of children from the parishes of the Jaffna Deanery participated in this prayer initiative, united in their prayers for peace, hope and protection for children across the world.
