The Provincial Congress of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), Jaffna Province, is being held from February 16 to 19, 2025, at Gnanothayam, an institute for religious studies located in the district of Mannar.
The congress, convened under the leadership of Provincial Superior Rev. Fr. Paul Jayanthan Pachchek, OMI, commenced with an inaugural ceremony on the evening of February 16.
The opening event saw the participation of esteemed bishops, including Rt. Rev. Dr. Immanuel Fernando Bishop of Mannar, Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam (Bishop of Jaffna), and Rt. Rev. Dr. Nobert Andradi, OMI Bishop of Anuradhapura.
Also present were the vicars general of the Mannar and Jaffna dioceses, Rev. Fr. P. Christhunayagam and Rev. Fr. P. J. Jebaratnam. The congress is being facilitated by Rev. Fr. Jayaraj Rasiah.
The Provincial Congress, held once every six years, serves as a significant moment for the Oblates to reflect on their mission, draw inspiration from past and present experiences, and set a visionary course for the future.
This year’s gathering is expected to invigorate the spirit and mission of the Oblates of Jaffna, inspiring them to move forward with renewed commitment and zeal.
