The meeting of the National Commission for Small Christian Communities was held on 14 and 15 September at Claret Niwas Hall in Kandy.
The meeting was conducted under the guidance of Bishop Raymond Wickramasinghe of the Diocese of Galle, who is responsible for the commission, and was chaired by the National Director, Rev. Fr. Priya Jayamanna.
The programme included Holy Mass, visits to Small Christian Communities, a training session for animators, and a reflection by Rev. Fr. Alvin Peter Fernando on the theme, “Conversation in the Spirit.” Reports from the dioceses were also presented during the meeting.
Bishop Valence Mendis of the Diocese of Kandy participated in the event and inaugurated the gathering. Diocesan directors and representatives of Small Christian Communities from across the country also took part.
Representing the Diocese of Jaffna were the Diocesan Director of Small Christian Communities, Rev. Fr. Ronald Sujeevan of the Claretian Congregation, Rev. Fr. Liyans, Mrs. Nimalda Jayakody, Mrs. Jacqueline and Mr. Alex Amalaratnam.
More than 65 participants attended the two-day gathering.
