The book “Ethical Argumentations of English-Speaking Bioethical Thoughts on In Vitro Fertilisation,” authored by Fr. Raviraj, a priest of the Diocese of Jaffna and lecturer at St. Francis Xavier’s Major Seminary, Colombuthurai, was launched on October 5 at the Ahavoli Family Services Centre hall.
The event was chaired by Rev. Fr. Jamesnathan, lecturer at St. Francis Xavier’s Major Seminary. Emeritus Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr Justin Gnanapragasam released the book, while the book review was delivered by Rev. Fr. ManuelPillai David, Vicar General of the Diocese of Jaffna.
The Bishop of Jaffna, Rt. Rev. Dr Anton Ranjith, attended as the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr. Josephthas Jebaratnam, Director of St. Francis Xavier’s Institute of Theology, and Rev. Fr. Petrus Thayaparan, Rector of St. Francis Xavier’s Major Seminary, attended as Special Guests. Professor Sri Satkunaraja, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, was the Guest of Honour.
Priests, religious sisters and brothers, seminarians, and faithful participated in the event.
The book explores Christian ethical perspectives on in vitro fertilization and related bioethical issues.
