The Bishop Deogupillai Memorial Lecture, organized by the Jaffna Diocesan Priests’ Union in memory of the late Bishop Deogupillai, was held on October 9 at the Ahavoli Family Services Centre Hall in Jaffna.
The event was chaired by Rev. Fr.S.M.P. Anandakumar, President of the Jaffna Diocesan Priests’ Union, and attended by Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, Bishop of Jaffna, as the Chief Guest.
Prof. Geethanjali Sathiyathas, Chair and Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Jaffna and Consultant Paediatrician at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, delivered the memorial address. She spoke on the theme “Guidance, Protection, Life Skills Education, and Parenting for a Stronger Generation.
Among the participants were Rev. Fr. Josephdas Jebaratnam, Vicar General of the Diocese, priests, religious sisters and brothers, seminarians, university students, and nursing students.
The gathering honoured Bishop Deogupillai’s lasting legacy in education, faith formation, and social service.
