His Excellency, Rt. Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe, the Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka, recently concluded a significant pastoral visit to the Diocese of Badulla, held from April 4th to 7th. The visit was marked by numerous events that emphasized faith, unity, and outreach to the wider community.
The Nuncio was warmly received by Bishop Jude Nishantha Silva and the local clergy at the Wellawaya Parish. Over the course of his visit, he travelled extensively across the diocese, visiting the parishes of Buttala, Monaragala, and Bibile, as well as the Gonamutawa Sub-Parish of Nayabedda Parish.
His itinerary also included key institutions and religious sites such as St. Anthony’s College—the first international college in the diocese—Calvary in Ulhitiya, the Elders’ Home in Hali Ela, St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Joseph Vaz Church in Balleketuwa, the Pastoral Center in Bandarawela, Sidupiyanila OMI Novitiate in Bandarawela, Kahagalla Estate Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Glananore, Hawardon Retreat House in Haputale, and the Minor Seminary of the Diocese of Badulla.
This pastoral journey was a meaningful opportunity to deepen the spiritual bonds between the Vatican and the faithful in the region, highlighting the values of unity, faith, and dedicated service within the Church.
