The Diocese of Jaffna marked Priests’ Day on April 14th with a special event held at the Jaffna Bishop’s House, organized under the guidance of Fr. Jebaratnam, the Diocesan Vicar General.

The celebration began with the recitation of the Rosary, followed by a reflection on the Final Synodal Document, and a gathering for the priests. Over 150 priests serving in the Jaffna Diocese took part in the event.

The priests then entered St. Mary’s Cathedral through the Jubilee Door, where they participated in the Holy Eucharist and the confession. In the evening, the Chrism Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral, presided over by Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, the Bishop of Jaffna. The liturgy included the blessing of the holy oils and the renewal of priestly vows by the clergy.

The Holy Mass was attended by priests, religious brothers, seminarians, and a large gathering of the faithful, making it a significant occasion for spiritual renewal and unity within the diocese.
