The launch of “Viruthappa Mazhai Aayiram”, a Tamil poetry collection by Rev. Fr. Anburasa of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) Congregation, was held on May 25 at the Kalaithuthu Kalaiyagam of Thirumarai Kalamanram, Centre for Performing Arts in Jaffna.

The event took place under the patronage of Senthamizh Sollaruvi Chandramouleesan Laleesan, Principal of Kopay Teachers’ Training College.

The book was officially released by Mr. Sivalingarajah, retired professor of the University of Jaffna, who served as the chief guest. Insightful literary reviews were presented by author Mr. Vadivalagayan and Mrs. Mary Mactalene Jayakody, Teachers’ Advisor.

Mr. Padmanathan, a poet and retired Principal of Palaly Teachers’ Training College, graced the event as a special guest. Rev. Fr. Paul Jeyanthan Pachek, Provincial Superior of the OMI congregation, and Rev. Fr. Jebaratnam, Vicar General of the Diocese of Jaffna, were honored guests at the ceremony.

The gathering included priests, religious sisters, government officials, and members of the public, all of whom came together to celebrate this new contribution to Tamil literature.
