The first death anniversary of Rev. Fr. Mark Regis Rajanayagam, a senior priest of the Diocese of Jaffna, was solemnly commemorated on June 9 at the Agavoli Family Services Centre Hall.
The event, guided by Rev. Fr. Manuverpillai David and presided over by Mr. Johnson Rajkumar, began with the garlanding of Fr. Rajanayagam’s portrait and a moment of tribute.
A special highlight was the launch of the book Arutpaniyin Nayagan, depicting Fr. Rajanayagam’s humble life and dedicated ministry. The book review was presented by Rev. Fr. Raviraj.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, Bishop of Jaffna, attended as chief guest, with Rev. Sr. Theophine Croos as guest of honour. Many priests, religious sisters, and family members were present.
Fr. Rajanayagam served in several parishes and as chaplain at the University of Jaffna. A prolific writer and thinker, he authored over ten books and contributed widely through Paathukaavalan newspaper and his popular spiritual program on Jaffna Marai Alai TV.
The event was a fitting tribute to his inspiring legacy of faith and service.
