Tamil political parties and civil society organizations jointly organized a protest rally on February 2 in Nedunkeni, Vavuniya North, opposing the proposed Kivil Oya irrigation project.
The rally commenced in front of the Nedunkeni Bus Stand. It proceeded to the Nedunkeni Divisional Secretariat, where a petition was submitted to the Vavuniya North Regional Secretary to be forwarded to the President.
The protest drew participation from religious leaders, Members of Parliament, political leaders, representatives of civil society organizations, local villagers from Vavuniya North, and members of the general public.
