“Pray for peace, work for peace, less hatred. Hatred in the world is constantly increasing.” This was the appeal Pope Leo XIV made to a group of journalists outside Villa Barberini in Castel Gandolfo, where he spent his customary day of rest and work.

Amid increasing attacks in the Middle East and growing global tensions, the Pope emphasized the pursuit of peace. He called on everyone to “truly strive to promote dialogue” and to “seek solutions without weapons to resolve problems.”

These remarks echo his address during the Angelus last Sunday, in which he referred to recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, and Iran’s bombings in several parts of the Middle East. Pope Leo XIV stated: “Stability and peace are not achieved through mutual threats, nor through the use of weapons, which sow destruction, suffering, and death, but only through reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue.”
