“Rationality for God’s Existence, a new philosophical work by Rev. Fr. Devin Coonge of the IVDei congregation and lecturer at the National Seminary of Our Lady of Lanka, Ampitiya, was officially launched on March 29 at De Mazenod Scholasticate, the Vasanthaham in Colombuthurai, Jaffna.

Rev. Fr. Josephthas Jebaratnam, Vicar General of the Diocese of Jaffna, served as chief guest and officially introduced the book to the audience. The event also featured review speeches by Rev. Fr. Manuvelpillai David, Director of the Ahavoli Family Services Centre, and Rev. Fr. Devaraja Raviraj, lecturer at St. Francis Xavier Major Seminary, Colombuthurai.

Among the special guests were Rev. Fr. Thayaparan, Rector of St. Francis Xavier Major Seminary, Rev. Fr. Godwin Camilus Sanna, Provincial Superior of the IVDei congregation, Rev. Fr. Sathiyaseelan of the OMI congregation, and Rev. Fr. Gerard Savarimuthu, Vice Rector of the seminary. The event was attended by priests, religious sisters, and seminarians.

The book presents a scholarly examination of rational arguments for the existence of God, comparing Western philosophers such as Anselm and Aquinas with the Indian thinker Udayana Acharya.  It is considered a valuable academic contribution for students of philosophy and theology.
