The General Meeting of the National Catholic Family Apostolate of Sri Lanka was held in the Diocese of Jaffna on October 17 and 18 at the Pandatharippu Retreat House, Jaffna.

The gathering took place under the patronage of Rt. Rev. Dr. Raymond Kingsley Wickramasinghe, Bishop of Galle and Bishop in charge of the National Apostolate. It was presided over by Rev. Fr. Gihan Gunathilaka, National Director of the Commission, and organized by Rev. Fr. Manuvelpillai David, Director of the Jaffna Diocesan Family Apostolate.

The first day’s programme began with an address by Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, Bishop of Jaffna, followed by general assembly sessions, presentation of the previous meeting’s report, group discussions, outdoor activities, and the recitation of the Holy Rosary.

The day concluded with a fellowship gathering graced by Rev. Fr. Josephdas Jebaratnam, Vicar General of the Diocese of Jaffna, fostering a spirit of  unity and joy among all participants.

On the second day, October 18, a solemn Holy Mass was celebrated by Bishop Raymond Kingsley Wickramasinghe, after which diocesan reports were presented, and discussions were held on the plans and resolutions of the Commission.

A total of 52 participants, including diocesan directors and married couples representing dioceses from across the country, took part in the two-day meeting, which served as a valuable opportunity to reflect, share experiences, and strengthen family apostolate initiatives throughout Sri Lanka.
