Most Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe, who served as the Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka since 2020, officially concluded his mission on May 31 and has returned to the Vatican to take up his new role as the Apostolic Nuncio to Ethiopia.

Over the past five years, Nuncio played a vital role in strengthening the relationship between the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka and the Holy See. During his tenure, he traveled extensively across the island, visiting dioceses and engaging with bishops, priests, religious, and lay faithful. In every encounter, he carried the message of the Holy Father, sharing his love, compassion, and encouragement with the people of Sri Lanka.

As he embarks on his new responsibilities in Ethiopia, Most Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe leaves behind a legacy of dedicated service and deep pastoral commitment in Sri Lanka.

In related news, Monsignor Roberto Lucchini has arrived in Sri Lanka and officially assumed duties as the Deputy Head of the Apostolic Nunciature.

His appointment reflects the Holy See’s continued commitment to fostering strong and meaningful relations with the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka.
