The Resurrection of Christ marks a new chapter of life and offers humanity a path of hope, declaring that nothing is finished – this is only the beginning, said in the Easter message delivered by Rt. Rev. Justin Gnanapragasam, Bishop of Jaffna.

The message says that even in the face of domination and authoritarian powers, Christ’s Resurrection brings a powerful response of hope and renewal.

The Bishop also reflected on the ongoing war in the Middle East and the preparations for conflict by powerful nations, which continue to affect countries and peoples across the world.

Concerns were raised about Artificial Intelligence, which, while showing imaginative worlds, has weakened human thinking, damaged wisdom, and contributed to suffering and humanitarian crises.

The message highlighted that fuel shortages, economic hardship, and challenges to family life are pressing issues. It also noted a decline in moral values and faith in God.

Despite surviving past wars, many wounds remain unhealed. Families of the disappeared still wait for closure, ancestral lands have not been returned, and unauthorized settlements continue. The longstanding ethnic issue also remains unresolved.

Finally, the message reflected on Christ entrusting His Mother to the world from the Cross. Through the intercession of Mother Mary, humanity can overcome life’s challenges and embrace a new life of hope and renewal.
