The fifth death anniversary of the former Bishop of Mannar, the late Rt. Rev. Dr. Rayappu Joseph, was commemorated on April 1, at Joseph Vaz Nagar in Mannar.
The remembrance event was organized under the guidance of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Marisalpillai Jeyabalan. As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered in the morning at the Bishop’s memorial site by the village community.
Songs written and performed by musicians in memory of Bishop Rayappu Joseph were also played throughout the day in honor of the late Bishop.
Later in the evening, the Bishop’s flag was ceremonially hoisted at the memorial site, and a garland was placed on the Bishop’s statue by the Parish Priest. This was followed by tribute events and a concelebrated Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Emilianuspillai.
A large number of priests and faithful took part in the commemorative event.
