The Drug Prevention Awareness Week Programme was jointly organized by the Students’ Prefects’ Board of St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna, and the internship student teachers of the National College of Education, Jaffna, from March 3 to March 6.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of the Rector of the College, Rev. Fr. Thirumagan, and featured awareness activities and cultural performances focused on drug prevention, along with Tamil and English speech competitions, song competitions, and essay competitions among the students.
The final day events, held on March 6 at the Matthews Hall of the College, included the presentation of certificates and prizes to the winners of the various competitions.
A special highlight of the programme was an inter-school debate competition between the students of St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna, and Holy Family Convent, Jaffna, which thoughtfully addressed issues related to drug prevention and the role of youth in building a drug-free society.
The occasion was graced by Mr. Joseph Mano Manuelpillai, President of the One Child Foundation, UK, as the Chief Guest, and was further honored by the presence of Mr. Saku Manuelpillai and Mr. Mahalingam Nireshkumar, Senior Lecturer at Jaffna National College of Education, Kopay.
